Set a video or animated GIF as a looping live wallpaper
New in version 1.3.0
Adds animated GIF support: pick a GIF with the file picker and set it as a looping live wallpaper, with the same speed, Fill and Fit controls as video. Also fixes portrait videos recorded on phones appearing rotated and stretched, playback speed not returning to normal after moving the slider, and the in-app video preview ignoring Fill/Fit. GIF decoding is built into the app, with no new libraries.
Pick any video or animated GIF from your device and set it as a looping live wallpaper.

Features:

* Preview it looping (muted) before setting it
* Adjustable playback speed (0.25x to 2.0x)
* Choose between "fill" (crop to cover the screen) and "fit" (show the whole frame, with letterboxing if needed) scaling, in both the preview and the wallpaper

* One-tap wallpaper setting through Android's own live wallpaper picker

GIF notes: transparent areas appear black, and GIF files over 50 MB are not supported.

Android applies a live wallpaper to the home screen and lock screen together. This is a limitation of the Android live wallpaper API, not of this app. Some devices' system pickers may offer extra choices; if yours does, the wallpaper plays on whichever screens you select.

Privacy: this app contains no ads, no analytics and no tracking. It does not request internet access. The only data it stores is a reference to the video or GIF you choose, kept locally on your device.

    • New in version 1.2.0
    Bug fix release. Fill and Fit scaling modes had no effect on the video — both looked stretched to the screen's aspect ratio regardless of which was selected. This was a platform limitation: Android's video scaling API relies on resizing the display surface, which live wallpapers aren't permitted to do. Video is now rendered through a small graphics pipeline that crops or letterboxes the picture directly, so Fill and Fit both work as expected.
