Bondwidth

Private, offline phone & contacts app that helps you keep up your bonds
New in version 1.0.0
First F-Droid release of Bondwidth — a private, fully offline phone, contacts and relationship app. Includes the default dialer with its own in-call UI, a full contacts manager, and per-person check-in cadences with birthday and anniversary reminders. Everything runs on-device with no network access.
Bondwidth is an all-in-one phone, contacts, and relationship app that works entirely on your device. No accounts, no servers, no tracking — and it quietly helps you stay close to the people who matter.

Friendship is small attentions, often. Set a check-in cadence for each person and Bondwidth gently flags who's getting too quiet, so you can reach out before silence becomes a habit. Birthdays and anniversaries are remembered for you, and the calls you make are counted automatically.

Private by design

* No internet permission at all — the app cannot reach the network, and its build pipeline fails if that ever changes.
* No accounts, no servers, no cloud. Everything stays in the app's private storage on your device.
* No analytics, no ads, no third-party trackers.
* Optional encrypted backups (AES-256-GCM) that only you can open.
* Optional biometric app lock and a "hide from screenshots" mode.

Phone

* Default dialer with its own in-call screen, Picture-in-Picture, and per-contact ringtones.
* T9 smart dial, speed dial, and dual-SIM call routing.
* Block numbers, missed-call notifications, call history and search.
* Colour-coded call directions, with optional WhatsApp / Signal shortcuts.

Contacts

* Browse, create, edit and delete contacts, with group filtering.
* Typed phone numbers, emails, postal address, website, organisation, notes and birthday.
* Find and merge duplicates; import and export vCard files.

Bonds

* Per-person check-in cadence with gentle overdue nudges.
* Birthday and anniversary reminders, with a "Mark as wished" action.
* An interaction timeline and an at-a-glance relationship dashboard.
* A home-screen widget for upcoming occasions and who you haven't spoken to lately.

Bondwidth is free software (GPL-3.0). Its phone and contacts features are derived from the Fossify Phone and Fossify Contacts projects.

Versions

Although APK downloads are available below to give you the choice, you should be aware that by installing that way you will not receive update notifications and it's a less secure way to download. We recommend that you install the F-Droid client and use that.

    Permissions
    • answer phone calls
Allows the app to answer an incoming phone call.
    • directly call phone numbers

    • run foreground service
Allows the app to make use of foreground services.
    • run foreground service with the type "phoneCall"
Allows the app to make use of foreground services with the type "phoneCall"
    • route calls through the system

    • read phone numbers
Allows the app to access the phone numbers of the device.
    • read phone status and identity

    • run at startup
Allows the app to have itself started as soon as the system has finished booting. This can make it take longer to start the phone and allow the app to slow down the overall phone by always running.
    • use biometric hardware
Allows the app to use biometric hardware for authentication
    • use fingerprint hardware
Allows the app to use fingerprint hardware for authentication
