meteocool 4.0, rebuilt from the ground up:
• New map with radar for more countries, storm cells in 3D, lightning and model forecasts
• Location button: show your position, or follow it as you move
• New settings: base map (incl. match system), colour maps, data sources and licences
• New three-page welcome; now also in French, Italian, Polish and Czech
• Works on Android 16; the F-Droid build contains no Google code
Don't want to get wet, or want to follow a thunderstorm? meteocool shows rain and storms as they happen and where they are heading next.

Rain alerts, the notification before rain reaches you, need Google's push service and are only in the Google Play version.

meteocool is open-core, built and run by volunteers in their spare time. This app is open source (AGPL-3.0), free of charge and has no ads.

Radar data from DWD, MeteoSwiss, Météo-France, ČHMÚ, IMGW-PIB and NOAA; the app lists every source and its licence under Settings.

Versions

Although APK downloads are available below to give you the choice, you should be aware that by installing that way you will not receive update notifications and it's a less secure way to download. We recommend that you install the F-Droid client and use that.

      This app will get notified when a screenshot is taken while the app is in use.
    • run foreground service
      Allows the app to make use of foreground services.
    • have full network access
      Allows the app to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. The browser and other applications provide means to send data to the internet, so this permission is not required to send data to the internet.
    • run at startup
      Allows the app to have itself started as soon as the system has finished booting. This can make it take longer to start the phone and allow the app to slow down the overall phone by always running.
    • control vibration
      Allows the app to control the vibrator.
    • prevent phone from sleeping
      Allows the app to prevent the phone from going to sleep.
