A voice recorder with an inline player, a trim editor that always saves a new copy, Recently Deleted with 30 days to recover, and home screen widgets. No network access, and no Google Play Services.
A voice recorder that gets out of the way. Every recording lives in one list, a tap unfolds the player right inside the row, and the red button at the bottom starts a new one.

Voice Memos has no ads, no trackers, no analytics and no network access whatsoever. It does not even ask for the internet permission. Your recordings stay on your device, in your own audio folder.

Recording
* A live waveform and a timer down to hundredths of a second
* Keeps recording in the background when you leave the app
* Pause and resume, or discard a take you do not want
* AAC (M4A), AMR-NB, AMR-WB and Opus, in three quality levels
* Stereo recording, skip silence and Bluetooth microphone support
* Optionally pauses on an incoming call

Playback
* Scrub along the waveform
* Skip back and forward 15 seconds
* Playback speed of 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x or 2x
* Media notification controls

Trim editor
Drag the yellow handles over the waveform to pick a section, then trim to keep it or delete to remove it. Edits are previewed before anything is written, and the result is always saved as a new recording, so the original is never touched.

* Recently Deleted keeps removed recordings for 30 days so they can be recovered

* Phone state, optional, to pause during a call
* Approximate location, optional, to tag M4A recordings with where they were made. It uses the location built into Android, not Google Play Services

Free software
Released under the MIT licence. Built on the RecorderApp engine by tuuhin, with an interface redrawn to follow the interaction patterns of the iOS Voice Memos app. This app is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple.

Versions

Although APK downloads are available below to give you the choice, you should be aware that by installing that way you will not receive update notifications and it's a less secure way to download. We recommend that you install the F-Droid client and use that.
