An offline Bengali keyboard using the Probhat layout. No permissions.

Choosing a layout on the setup screen now changes the keyboard straight away, instead of waiting until you open the next text field.

The selected emoji category is drawn as a rounded key rather than a square block against the edge of the panel.
উন্মুক্ত (Unmukto) is a Bengali keyboard for Android, built around the Probhat layout.

It is deliberately small. The keyboard declares no Android permissions at all, has no network access, and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking libraries. Nothing you type leaves your device, because the app has no way to send it anywhere.

Although APK downloads are available below to give you the choice, you should be aware that by installing that way you will not receive update notifications and it's a less secure way to download. We recommend that you install the F-Droid client and use that.

    Emoji, at last: a scrolling panel with every emoji your phone can draw, reached from the new key beside the space bar.

    A second layout in Bengali alphabetical order, each vowel sign sitting under its own vowel. Hold the space bar to switch layouts, or pick one in the app.

    A key to switch straight back to another keyboard, so Unmukto is no longer a one-way door.

    Backspace now deletes a whole emoji instead of half of one.

    Adds the Bengali characters that previously had no key: the vowel signs ে, ৈ, ো, ৌ plus ঞ, ড় and ৎ. All 61 letters, vowel signs and marks are now reachable, and a ? key was added.

    Characters used to be inserted the moment a finger touched a key, so sliding off to cancel still typed them. Fixed. Shift is now one-shot rather than latched.

    Redesigned keys, modifiers styled apart from letters, proper dark mode.

    Launching the app no longer jumps to system settings.

    First GPL v3 release.
