CVEs be gone!

This Week in F-Droid

Community News

The Matrix ecosystem fixed some major bugs that affected servers and clients too. The CVE level issues were announced back in July but things were intentionally kept vague while developers worked hard on yet another room version bump and fixes.

Last week the big post dropped, explaining the nitty-gritty about what happened, what was fixed, how and what to expect.

F-Droid has several clients that got updated with these fixes:

And we recommend that you update as soon as possible.

But we also host Element X and its fork SchildiChat Next which are not yet updated as these hit reproducibility issues that hamper determinism. (These issues are not related to any other F-Droid issue from last month and upstream developers are working on fixes.)

While we don’t usually advise this, as the whole purpose of having F-Droid as a third party that verifies the build can’t be exerted now, users of Element X and SchildiChat Next can update directly from the developers as the apps are signed by them already.

Ente Photos - Encrypted photo storage was updated to 1.2.0 adding custom layouts, an advanced editor, smart albums and performance fixes.

FlorisBoard was updated to 0.5.0 after five intense months of development. The changelog is hefty and no wonder, given all the nice changes and fixes.

Immich was updated to 1.138.0 with the new beta timeline, PIN reset, OAuth ID and much much more.

Rethink: DNS + Firewall + VPN was updated to v0.5.5q and this should fix the issue users encountered with the last update. Do test and reach out if still problematic.

Session F-Droid was updated to 1.27.0. The developers have written a post about common network troubleshooting for users having issues connecting.

@shuvashish76 torrents some ink:

KOReader was updated to v2025.08 adding a lot of fixes, OPDS facets support, dictionary presets, CBR files support and support for new e ink devices like ONYX Max2 Pro, Hyread Gaze Note devices, noteair4c, Boox Go6 and Go7. Full changelog here.

LibreTorrent was updated to 4.0.1 with Android 15 support and a nice Material 3 (You) redesign.

Red Screen was updated to 1.2 after 10 years! If you needed a red screen, now it’s the time to install. Spoiler alert: it has shortcuts for more colors.
