Community News

ArcaneChat was updated to 2.50.0 with many fixes and improvements. Calls are no longer experimental, same for channels, location streaming is better and more.

FluffyChat was updated to 2.6.0 with updated translations, design fixes, sync optimisations, chat filters, room tags, thumbnail control, push notifications for multi account and more.

Jami was updated to 20260522-01 and gets well rounded, both UI wise and in functionality. We missed the new look back in April, but you can read the developer post here.

NewPipe was updated to 0.28.7 fixing some annoyances, but also fixing a bit of tech debt by dropping Android 5 support. You can read why here, and maybe look up how to either get a compatible newer Android distribution for your device or, as finances permit, acquire a newer device that at least allows a newer one. The LineageOS Wiki might be helpful in guiding you. There’s also some news regarding team members.

Until then, if you’re stuck on 5, SkyTube Legacy was updated to 2.999 and might serve you for a bit more.

ReFra was updated to 4.3.0. What is ReFra? It’s the new name of the Gallery app (yes, rather generic sounding name). The changelog is huge, in part because the new features took some time to stabilize and clean up to be fully FLOSS. We have maps integration, yes INTERNET permission is now used, ML (optional) features, app sandboxing processing, 360°, vault overhaul, markup, album groups, FCast, private folder, timeline, subtitles, new video controls, and more. You can read all about these in the repo, start on page 2 with 4.1.0 and go up to 4.3.0.

Save by OpenArchive was updated to 4.0.4 adding proofmode for WebDav servers and more bug fixes. The app was designed to be helpful to documenters, archivists, journalists, and advocates around the world, and to face very complex technological and human situations. The developers recently posted about the encountered challenges here.

VCMI was updated to 1.7.4 after a two year hiatus. While the changelog is huge and concerns mostly the game itself, the Android part got a new settings screen and QoL improvements for touch screens. If on update it does not start and complains about missing game files, try to reimport the game data files.

Offline Translator was updated to 0.6.1 adding a highly wanted feature: “live camera translation”. You can see this in action here.

Some users of older Android versions have seen crashes with 0.6.1, the developer fixed those and we are waiting for the next release to be ready.

LabNex for GitLab was updated to 8.0.0 after Gitnex for Forgejo and Gitea got its UI overhauled last week. The changelog is too long to list, but touches every area of the app, enhancing your mobile interaction with Gitlab.

PaperKnife+ was updated to 1.1 fixing some bugs and supporting exporting saved signatures as PNG.
